Lewis. In honor/memory of my grandfather (father’s father) Louis Sumberg, who my father was allegedly “estranged from.” A longer story for another time… 😎
Maybe so. My parents stopped at three girls. On the plus side, maybe I turned out to be the son my father expected. He took me everywhere and I think I had the most time with him....of all his girls. With him in his woodworking shop, on trips to the lumber yard, working on his model railroad layouts, assisting him as grill master for lots of parties in the large back yard, and working in the dirt with landscaping and gardens. Lots of skills that came in handy as I became an awesome woman who was not hung up on "finding a man." As it turned out, I was married a long time to the love of my life because we just did things together, every day and as long as he lived.
I am the middle child. The one that moved away. My sister and brother both worked with my dad so they did have a lot of day to day time with him. I was luckier though. I got the quality, focused time. Even went with him on a trip to see Warren Buffet with him.
For a long time I told everyone I had no middle name because it was a conjunction. That's the way I spelled it. And. I thought it tied the first name to the last name. I used it so rarely that it wasn't until time came to get a driver's license and Social Security card that I had to verify with a birth certificate. There was a middle name and it is Ann. Who knew?
No reason provided. I was second born and the first is a girl. Back then there was not gender reveal and my parents had a name selected for a boy--James. I did not get the full story of where my name came from when I popped out and was not a boy....and it not a name in the family line.
This stuff is so interesting. I've been wondering about those gender reveal parties...seems to take some of the mystery out of the whole process. Maybe they are helpful after all.

Thanks for sharing. Do you know the reason you got the Ann?
